We certainly cannot protect the environment at an instant. But a small individual step can bring about alot of difference.
As the world, together, goes through a global pandemic, there’s a lot on our plates right now. A lot to
think about, a lot to go through and a lot to experience. Amid this, we’ve consciously or unconsciously
been consuming a lot of resources which fairly is for our own survival. But what we’ve forgotten to
consider is all the resources that are being used by us, are none to be saved for all the generations that are ahead of us.
If this is a hard time for human beings altogether, so it is for the environment. It’s time we slow down
and let the environment breathe. Among all the things changing around (including the new normal),
what stays constant is the environment and all those things it has to offer. That is why; it is our common duty to make sure we protect the environment as long as it’s protecting us.
The big part of what’s going the opposite way is covered by fashion. With all the raw materials, mostly
unrecyclable ones being used, it’s high time we follow the practice of sustainable fashion.
Each day, a minor decision about what we are to eat in a single day or what we are about to purchase
and what we intend to wear makes a lot of difference. The practice of Eco Fashion or Sustainable
Fashion brings about a hope that the environment is still getting the preservation it deserves. The
sustainability in fashion starts with how shoes, clothes and accessories are manufactured and lasts up to how we as consumers decide to consume it.
Despite all the new-grown concern the western part of the world is showing, it is necessary we bring this change in our sides as well. Thrift, recycle, reuse, repair. As simple as these words sound, it might take a little time to bring these into day-to-day practice.
Environment, however, doesn’t only limit to this criteria. There are many forms and fields that are yet to be discovered and to be covered to make sure our future generations follow our footsteps. Because let’s face it, what we decide to do as adults directly transforms into what becomes a trend in 10 years. And it has become a major necessity that conservation becomes the new cool.
Let’s start with limiting in what we use in a single day. What ways can we preserve the ecosystem by
avoiding use of certain materials? Alternatives and local materials are way to go. Buy local. Eat local.
Avoid use of plastic. Replace what you can. Stick to handmade and ethical fashion. Doesn’t sound
practical? But it sure helps. Wear recycled clothes. Borrow, thrift and upcycle. Go green, ditch the habits that affects the surrounding. Learn what cruelty-free and vegan products are all about.
We might not be able to bring a vast difference in the environment by planting a tree, by wearing
thrifted clothes, by avoiding use of plastic straws and adopting the “go green” culture. Nevertheless, the example that we set for our younger ones, our society and our peers surely converts into a big change that lies ahead. Because at the end, what’s alarming is that our world needs us. At this very moment. The environment needs us, let’s slow down.
